"Yoki II"
In the language of Japanese, “Yoki” dances between meanings – ‘chi’ and ‘life force.’ This abstract sculpture channels that very essence, capturing the energy that pulses through all living things. Imagine it as a vessel for the intangible, a bridge between realms.
Its sleek, curved form pays homage to ancient Egyptian funerary boats – vessels believed to guide the soul from one life to the next. The central concave shape cradles memories, while the dramatically upturned ends propel us forward, hinting at movement and transition.
Within its textured interior lie echoes of our experiences – the imprints of joy, sorrow, and everything in between. And when we’re gone, these remnants become ashes, carried by the winds of existence.
This dynamic sculpture beckons contemplation. Stand before it, and you’ll find yourself pondering life’s mysteries, tracing the passage of the soul. Its minimalist design invites multiple interpretations, consistently evoking themes of travel, transition, and the ineffable essence of being.
