"Quill"
Quill is an abstract clay sculpture that embodies the essence of earthy forms and textures. It stands as a testament to the beauty found in the natural world and in the act of making—capturing both the spirit of creation and the grounded presence of clay itself.
The process began with forming the body of the piece, followed by brushing strips of casting slip onto a plaster slab. Once partially dried, each strip was placed one by one into the sculpture’s mouth, creating a layered effect that evokes organic growth. The surface was then brushed with a mixture of slips and oxides, adding tonal depth, tactile variation, and a sense of quiet drama.
