I’ve been experimenting with this technique for a few years. Porcelain slip is poured onto a 100lb plaster bat, brushed to size, then layered with additional slip and metallic glaze in gestural strokes. Once it reaches a leather-hard consistency, the piece is carefully scraped off the bat and transferred to the kiln.
It's a delicate process with a high failure rate if the porcelain slip isn’t handled precisely.
