"Weathering the Storm"
Weathering the Storm draws its strength from the haunting image of a lighthouse frozen in time—encased in ice after a relentless coastal storm. This ceramic sculpture is a meditation on endurance, built slowly and deliberately, each layer formed with intention. The surface is pounded and scarred, bearing the physical memory of impact, as if shaped by the storm itself.
The textures echo nature’s duality—grit and grace, erosion and resilience. Raw and unglazed, the clay speaks of fragility, but stands tall, tethered and bound, as though holding itself together through force of will. At once grounded and reaching, the form invites reflection on the storms we carry inside—the moments that threaten to undo us, and yet forge something stronger in their wake.
This is not a sculpture of defeat, but of quiet triumph. Of standing upright when all else falls. Of enduring, even beautifully, even broken.
